One last sketch from Florida…
5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, ink & watercolor in a Stillman and Birn Alpha series sketchbook |
It was too windy to sketch outside on the day I visited the Sarasota Farmer’s market with my sketching buddies, so we snapped pictures and headed for a warm, cozy Starbucks nearby. There, we spread out our sketchbooks and paints and settled in for a group sketching session, the blustery day outside all but forgotten. We drew and painted as we sipped coffee and talked about anything and everything.
A sketchbook is the perfect accompaniment to a cappuccino, and it has zero calories!

Wow, this is a beautiful page Leslie. Vibrant colors and I always love your layouts!
Happy New Year, Leslie! I'm finally getting a chance to catch up on what I missed on your blog for the last few months. Love all the commissions and the photos and paintings from your travels to your workshop are just great…and inspiring!
Sounds like a perfect day to me! Love those bright colours in the middle of winter!
Love the style, colors and fun work!! You've caught my attention! I've picked up a Nature Sketch 9×6 multi-media sketchbook to get started on my journal. The paper is 130lb. Is this good? Or should I find a book like you have?
I've never used that particular sketchbook, but the weight of the paper would probably make it suitable for watercolor. Give it a try, but if you find it frustrating to work on, get something else specifically made for watercolors. Mine is a Stillman and Birn Beta series sketchbook, which works beautifully for sketchbook journaling. They're available from Amazon and various online art supply companies.
