Embroidered Bedding Set

We had a bridal shower for my daughter Sara yesterday at a wonderful tea room in our area – the Johnston House, in Mars, PA. I was really looking forward to giving her the gift that I’ve been working on for several weeks. There had been a few close calls where she had walked into my workroom while I was sewing, and I scrambled to cover up the project while shouting, “Close your eyes! Don’t look!!” But the big day finally arrived when I could give her the embroidered sheet set that I had been making for her. It turned out so pretty!

(That’s a commercially made quilted coverlet over the sheets.)

The pillowcases were hand embroidered with a forget-me-not design. The embroidered band was set off with a folded contrast band of fabric on each side and a sweet floral ruffle.

I love doing hand embroidery. It’s so easy and relaxing and doesn’t take too long to finish a project. These pillowcases were done with backstitch, French knots, and stem stitch, and I used DMC floss.

The flat sheet was given a pretty patchwork border, contrast banding, and a floral ruffle. The fabrics for this project were mostly from Moda.

The  Forget-Me-Not Bedding Set by Crabapple Hill Studio that I used had great directions and was very easy to follow. Take a look at their website. There are 16 pages of embroidery and quilt patterns, and they’re all so cute! I think I may order another pattern and get started on a project for myself.

Sara loved her gift and thought the sheets and pillowcases were really beautiful. The only trouble is, they’re almost too pretty to use!

    • I did it all myself. I used a basic Blogger template then customized the colors, fonts, etc. using the "Advanced" tab in the "Template" section. I designed the header in Picasa using their collage option. Adding "pages" makes the blog function more as a website and enables me to include information that's always readily accessible. I learned it all through trial and error and a lot of Google searches for information to solve whatever problem I was trying to figure out.
