My grandson Nicholas looked so cute the other day when he was here. He had on a little navy and white striped baseball outfit, and, with those chubby little arms and legs, and big brown eyes, he was just about irresistible. I snapped some photos to draw from later, and did this page that evening…

I did a pencil sketch first, to make sure I got the proportions correct, then inked and painted it.(So, technically this doesn’t qualify for the challenge, where everything must be drawn directly in ink, but since I’ve actually done multiple paintings on some days, I’m letting it slide and calling it Day 26.)
Remember when I told you about our problems with raccoons in the garden? Well, look what I found in the live animal trap a few days ago, another brown-eyed cutie…

I am a fairly new visitor to your blog and I must say your artwork is amazing. Your sketching is so professional! I love to sketch but am not good at it…I keep trying however! The work your doing in this challenge is wonderful…thanks for sharing!

Fran, I'm just learning, like everyone else. I have a business making custom draperies and slipcovers, which takes up a lot of my time, but I'm spending more time on my art lately and it's brought an incredible amount of pleasure and satisfaction to my life. I guess you could say I'm a professional artist, because I do some commission work, but I still feel like an amateur. All is know is THIS IS FUN! I'm glad to hear that you're a sketcher, too. You'll improve, the more you do it – just keep plugging away – and be kind to yourself about your work. Enjoy the experience, and don't worry overly much about having everything just so.
